Meeting beginning at 5:50 pm
 
In attendance: Jen Ferguson, Toni DiPirro, Christina Auer, Shelley Kline & Mia Stanton, Debbi Murray, Liz August and Barb Davis.
 
Recap of why we are meeting tonight: This all began with what Kate’s rate would be for coaching beginner synchro. There is no language in the contract of what it would be & in the past it has always been paid for thru LTS at $32/hr. She was only given a $40 rate verbally when she was originally interviewed for a synchro coach so this is what she assumed she would be paid.
 
Beginner synchro parents would like to compete in Skaneateles because they are only doing 2 competitions. The parents know there would be an extra cost that is not currently in the budget. This extra cost is yet to be determined.
 
Several people have complained that Kate only communicates with Jen. There also have been some issues about her responding to emails. Jen did address this issue with her this week & she explained what has happened & how to resolve this for the future.
We are making a profit on LTS Wednesday evenings, but not on Saturday mornings. We can fit about 80 people on the ice comfortably on Wednesday & then the rest can be moved to Saturday morning.
Discussing ways to grow the Bridge program. A possibility would be to cut those off from LTS that should be in the Bridge program. Kate is going to talk with Kyle about the possibility of giving private lessons during open ice. The child would pay for open ice, pay the coach separately & the coach would in return give 15% back to the club. This wouldn’t cost the club anything & give us a profit in return.
We need to vote on the issue of Kate’s pay. There currently is a beginner synchro budget in place. Are there in projections in place? Marketing & budgets are in Kate’s contract. The main decisions about LTS should be done by Kate. We need to clarify what Kate does & what Barb does & restructure. Currently Kate is being paid:
Wednesday 1 hour for LTS & 1/2hr for beginner synchro. She teaches half the time & coaches the other half.
1 hour on Saturday for Bridge & she supervises bridge the whole time.LTS director $25 per week.
It looks chaotic on Wednesday because of all the helpers during practice ice as well as LTS lessons. There should be criteria in place as to who can be a helper. Debbi motions that the beginner synchro rate for Kate be $40 an hour & Mia seconds it. All in favor, vote is unanimous.
We need to restructure Kate’s contract after we meet with her.
Issues to discuss with Kate: 1. Restructure Kate & Barbs roles. Mia has offered to help Kate & Barb restructure their roles. Mia would like to go over the contract with Liz before she meets with them. 2. Clarify junior coach criteria. 3. Choreography with beginner synchro 4. Beginner synchro should have it’s own budget.
